First off, wow, why didn’t anyone tell me about this link (http://howdoyoudoit.wordpress.com/ “How Do You Do It?”) before? Priceless information on how to do things with multiples (but it certainly applies to singletons too).
Secondly, we finally got pictures of his teefs! (Yes, I did say ‘teefs.’)
The bump on his lip has gotten worse and then better. Today it wasn’t so bad. He was chewing on it yesterday and it ended up looking like this:
We met a friend of ours at DefCon and … well, look what she got kiddopants!
He was a HIT. Girls fawned, guys asked where he got the shirt, and we got pictures taken of us more than once. I’ll post those once we get copies. Anyway, he was such a good kid and was so curious about everything that he didn’t take his nap until we sat down and hid his view with some boob.
Gosh I love this kid.

Somebody rolled all the way over today. Went from back to tummy to back again.
Unfortunately he also rolled through a pile of spitup he created on the way over, but hey, that’s washable.

Home-made garlic dill pickle. I scraped the seeds out (you can see it’s hollow in one of the shots) so he didn’t choke. He loved it.
There’s a movie HERE (CLICK IT! You know you want to.)

Today, after the doctor, kiddo and I took a nap.
When we woke up from the nap, we sat by the open window in his room and watched the hummingbirds, a pair, attack the roses for a few rounds before resting on a thin branch nearby. If the screen hadn’t been in the way, I would’ve had an awesome picture opportunity.
After sitting in the window, we went outside to wait for Aba. I sat on the walkway with kiddo on my lap. He watched everything, including the rustling leaves on the tree when the wind blew. When Aba got home, we all walked to get the mail.
It was a good day.
Wasn’t able to get a picture of teefs, though, because … well, you try getting a close-up shot of two tiny bumps inside a squirming infant’s mouth.

There is nothing wrong with kiddo’s lip that won’t go away in a few months, he said. We’re going to just wait it out and monitor it to see if it grows.
As the doctor was poking around in his mouth, he said, Oh, hey, look at this, and pointed to TWO TEETH that had ALREADY POKED THROUGH.
Pictures to come.

I usually tend to use the restroom before I leave work, which is right before I start pumping. What this has caused is a Pavlovian reaction to being in the bathroom: every time I go in, and I’m washing my hands, I have milk let-down.
The problem with this is that I get the rush of great feelings that accompany let-down, and so I come out of the bathroom smiling like an idiot. This is awkward, to say the least.
Today I went in, and, as I stood in front of the mirror after washing my hands, I noticed that I’m having a big boob day. I grabbed the ladies and felt to see if they really were bigger or if they just looked that way in the shirt and the jiggling motion triggered my milk.
This time I left the bathroom and I couldn’t hide my grin. Big boobs AND great hormone rush? Heck yeah.
I need to find a hobby other than my boobs.

Guess who went poop in the potty yesterday?
Hint: mommy had to hold him. Not Aba.
We really only caught half of it but it’s still success!

Kiddo and I went to the dentist this morning for a checkup because there’s a little lump on the inside of his lip that Dr Wachs said she wanted to get looked at. It’s a blocked salivary duct that’s got fluid accumulating behind it. Nothing serious, just annoying. Doesn’t hurt kiddo or interfere with his eating, so we’re not worried.
After the initial exam, we were referred to an oral surgeon (just because it’s not something you can pop). I don’t think we’ll be going back to that dentist, though, despite everyone in the office being wonderful and awesome and nice and polite. It’s the form they give you with your paperwork stating that parents aren’t allowed back with the kids during procedures, and that if your kid is prone to being frightened of the dental procedures (which I certainly would be without my parent(s) with me), they will prescribe your kid Demerol. Or Valium.
They’re replacing the parental calming effect with drugs. That’s uncool.
So we won’t be going back. We don’t need to find another dentist, though, until he’s about a year old, so we’re not panicking.
Wow, Demerol for a baby. Awesome.
(If anyone has any recommendations for dentists that don’t do this, please let me know.)
